WIP - Small Pocketbook

I'm almost finished with this - all the knitting and the felting is done. I just need to sew in a zipper and attach the hardware for the handles.

Warnings: I thought I was being a great knitter and twisted my yarn in the back midway in the "window" area. I had no idea that it'd show through when felted.
One skein of black is not enough to make the handle all one color.
Super fast knit. Very cute purse.

Smallish Carpet Bag

I just completed the smallish carpet bag. It was a gift for my (almost) 7 year old daughter for her last day of school. She's very happy with it. Me too.

Noni "elephant foot" bag

My Noni "elephant foot" bag before and after felting. I modified the pattern a little bit - casting on 70 instead of 90 (I did 90 the first time - was toooo wide) and knitting about 75 rows. I cord handle and twisted it. This bag is going with my husband to Egypt for a family member.
Currently I'm working on the "cell phone" bag from the same pattern. Trying to adjust the size so it is just right as the pattern only called for four rows for the bottom and that turned out small and I was looking for something a wee bit bigger.
Will post more progress soon I hope.

My first Noni

I will casting on my first Noni in the next couple of days. I am knitting it for the International Tote Exchange. I will be knitting the Small Carpet Bag along with some Camellia flowers. I am going to be using Rowanspun Aran (for the bag) and Cascade 220 (for the flowers), I am not sure how the Rownaspun will felt, but, as it is 100% wool, I can't forsee a huge problem. (u can quote me on that when I come back with a catastrophe). If anyone has any tips on lining/finshing techniques they would be greatly received as although I am a fairly competent knitter my sewing skills are no where near on the same level!

Noni Bobble Bag finished

I am very proud of my NONI BOBBLE BAG. I'm not sure, however, that I would make this one again. It took alot of time to knit all the bobbles, finish them up, then attach them to the bag.

I also wouldn't stuff the big ones with as much poly fiber fill as I did because it left some holes where you can see the white fill. I also would space the bobbles further apart. It was nearly impossible to sew on the handles after felting into the thick material.

Beware if you purchase the kit with the yarn. I purchased mine at a booth at Stitches East and it was WAY short of the amounts needed to make all the multi-colored bobbles.

Bobbles everywhere!

I made the bobbles Noni bag for my friend Tracy's birthday. Here it is before felting:

Cell phone added for scale. I only put about half of the bobbles that the pattern called for. I thought I would go insane if I made 16 x 12 bobbles!

Here it is after felting when I was sewing in the lining (a really nice stripe that had black and all the colors of the bobbles). I added very heavy interfacing (like what you would put in the brim of a baseball cap) to the inside for stability, since I have read that the bobbles can make this purse very top-heavy. I also put a zipper pocket and magnetic closure on the inside.

I used flexible leather like handles since they seemed very comfortable to hold. Here it is on Tracy. I think she liked it!

I was pleased with how it turned out. Once all my other Christmas presents are knitted and my knitting time is my own once again I have planned to make a similar bag using two colors of green Cascade 220 and some lime green Squiggle instead of bobbles.
